SCROLL DOWN

The EU-funded research and development project ReDREAM began its work more than three years ago with this mission. The aim was to prove that digital solutions and a user-centred ecosystem can bring the key stakeholders in the energy system together and empower consumers to significantly influence the sustainability of the energy market. Over the course of the project several technical- and social innovations have been tested and demonstrated in households, small industry and tertiary premises involving consumers in Spain, Italy, UK, and Croatia.

ReDREAM is now nearing completion and it is now time to share the findings and present the next steps. The project’s final hybrid event will take place on Tuesday 12 March 2024, from 10:00-12:30. We kindly invite you to attend online or in-person at Comillas University in Madrid.  The programme includes various interesting panel discussions on social engagement, technology developments, deploying the ReDREAM solutions in 4 countries, and discussions on remaining regulatory barriers. We will show several videos of the activities in our energy communities and demonstrate our innovative technologies, such as our energy gamification app. Speakers will be project experts as well as external experts, and there will be testimonials of participants in the ReDREAM demonstrations. Feel invited to this exciting event!

THE AGENDA

Session 1 – 30 Minutes:

Welcome by ReDREAM Project Coordinator Dr. Álvaro Sánchez Miralles & Setting Scene by Bath & West Energy Community, Energetica Cooperation, Zelena Energetska Zadruga, Bio-Distretto Via Amerina

In this session, we will switch live to the ReDREAM demo locations in Bath (United Kingdom), Gallese (Italy), Varazdin (Coratia) and Valadolid (Spain). You will learn about the different challenges the demos faced in their very specific markets and the goals they wanted to achieve. Whether flexibility in demand, the initial establishment of an energy community or the efficient decentralised use of renewables through heat pumps and photovoltaics, the tasks were diverse and extremely challenging.

Session 2 – 25 Minutes:

Panel Discussion Social Engagement Research
Certainly one of the most interesting panels. Because this is about us and our needs as energy consumers. Scientific and empirical studies on consumer needs and behaviour are the basis for all decisions and developments for the current energy transition. In this discussion panel, consumers, market research experts, the demo site owners and international guests from the energy sector will talk about the role and influence of research findings and how consumers can be empowered to influence the energy transition through their behaviour today and in the future.

Session 3 – 25 Minutes:

Panel Discussion Technology Developments

Perhaps the most important basis for a successful energy transition is digitalisation. This sounds almost trivial given the inflationary use of the term, but for ReDREAM this is the key to success. The technical development in this research project makes it possible to fulfil the various requirements and market participants. The developers talk to external experts about how this technology is used and what challenges were and are involved on all sides. An insight into the functionality, as well as the experience report on the application and its influence on consumer behaviour, are key points of discussion.

Session 4 – 50 Minutes:

Panel Discussion Deployment & Regulatory Barriers with Consumer Experience

Now it’s all about real results. In this panel, our demo site partners will report and discuss with market experts and political stakeholders the current results after implementation and the experiences of participating consumers. The focus will be on the effects of the options developed by ReDEAM and the regulatory influences of the markets in our participating countries. A truly forward-looking discussion that will show how far the distance between feasibility and reality lies.

Session 5 – 10 Minutes:

Keynote “Consumer-driven Energy Market of the Future”

A special guest will close the event with a look into the future. After more than 2 hours of exciting insights into current research and technological developments, the closing keynote speech is a signpost to the future, why and how energy consumers will play a decisive role in the energy transition.
